Airpel Series OW Dual Filters

For applications where the requirement is for continuous flow with minimum loss of pressure, the OW dual filter provides quality of design and performance

Principle of Operation

Airpel Series OW dual basket filters are designed for the removal of solids from liquid flows. Any solids larger than the selected filtration media are retained within the filter basket (in to out filtration) and can then be disposed of safely and in a controlled manner. The filter is of cast construction and incorporates two chambers each containing a high quality stainless steel cylindrical basket. In operation flow is diverted from one chamber to the other without interruption by turning the filter handle which rotates dual cylindrical cocks delivering the fluid into the appropriate chamber. Offering a duty/standby arrangement, the basket contained within the standby chamber can be removed, cleaned and replaced ready for the next changeover making it ideal for use in liquid handling installations that require continuous flow.

Construction

All Airpel Series OW filters are of cast construction and house a high quality stainless steel filtration basket in both chambers of the unit. The design allows quick cleaning of one of the baskets while the other basket is in use on the process line, hence reducing down time and monitoring debris levels within the liquid flow.
Materials of body and diverter cock are selected depending on the process fluids, in order to extend filter life.

Airpel Series Features and Benefits – OW (Dual / Duplex)

Feature Advantage Benefit
Robust simple design Low cost effective unit Keeps within budget constraints
Easy access cover design Quick opening for access to basket(s) Reduced down time and no tooling required
Compact Design Smaller foot print Can be installed in tight / small locations
Multi basket option (Compared to ‘like for like’ products) High levels of filtration area and more compact design Less space required for installation and high filtration area gained
Screw and flange connection options available Client can chose best options for their installation Suit new or existing pipeline connections and reduce costs
Standard Airpel Design Wide range of sizes and materials available Meets customers delivery and budget requirements
Basket design Debris is held within basket Easier & cleaner to dispose of unwanted filtered solids
Flow Diverting cocks Diverts and isolates flow from one chamber to the other Filter cleaning is possible with out stopping process flow and protecting the operator
Diverting handle covers chamber in use Helps stops the removal of basket while chamber is in use Safe operator use

The Airpel Series of Dual filters are available in various material configurations to ensure the compatibility between material selection and process fluid is acceptable while still maintaining full sight of budget requirements.

OWO – ‘Oil Body’ design comprising of Cast Iron Body with an Iron diversion cock arrangement suitable for Oil / self-lubricating fluids and applications.

OWWB – ‘Water Body’ design comprising of Cast Iron Body with a Gunmetal diversion cock / sleeve arrangement suitable for water like fluids and applications. This design has no need for regular injection of grease (via grease sticks, grease nipples, etc) to lubricate the diverter cock, the material combination removes this requirement.

OWC – Cast Iron design comprising of Cast Iron Body with a Stainless Steel diversion cock arrangement suitable for chemical applications

OWSS – Stainless Steel design comprising of Cast Stainless Steel Body with a Stainless Steel diversion cock arrangement suitable for high corrosive fluids such as aggressive chemicals, water, etc. and some food and beverage applications.

OWSSGM– Stainless Steel design comprising of Cast Stainless Steel Body Gunmetal diversion cock / sleeve arrangement suitable for water like fluids and applications.
This design has no need for regular injection of grease (via grease sticks, grease nipples, etc) to lubricate the diverter cock, the material combination removes this requirement.

OWSC –Steel design comprising of Cast Steel Body with a Stainless Steel diversion cock arrangement suitable for chemical applications.

OWS –Steel design comprising of Cast Steel Body with an Iron diversion cock arrangement suitable for applications where Steel filter bodies are preferred and the process fluid is self-lubricating.

OWSWB – Steel design comprising of Cast Steel Body with an Gunmetal diversion cock / sleeve arrangement suitable for applications where Steel filter bodies are preferred.
This design has no need for regular injection of grease (via grease sticks, grease nipples, etc) to lubricate the diverter cock, the material combination removes this requirement.

OWGM – Gunmetal design comprising of Cast Gunmetal Body with a Gunmetal diversion cock arrangement suitable for high corrosive applications such as sea water, internal filtration baskets would be supplied in Monel.

A300 – The A300 Range of filters are designed for full flange rated 300lb applications available in Stainless Steel and Steel with pressure ratings up to 50 and 48 bar respectively.

Other configurations available dependant on process fluids and applications.

Protect Pipeline Equipment Against Damage

Machinery such as pumps and valves can be broken by grit, metal fragments, etc. while nozzles and heat exchangers have narrow construction that could easily become blocked, this equipment is expensive to repair / replace and the cost of downtime could be crippling, so the installation of a strainer ensures that the primary equipment is protected from any unplanned outage.

Typical Applications would include:

  • Nozzle protection
  • Heat exchanger protection
  • Valve protection
  • Pump protection

Remove particles from fluid product

Even if pipeline equipment is not at risk particles in discharge may breach environmental legislation or product acceptance criteria, so the use of a strainer / filter can prove to be a cost effecting and efficient way to maintain the process fluids quality whilst maintaining working standards.

Common industries where product quality is essential:

  • Water treatment
  • Food and beverage
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Paints, inks and varnishes, etc.
